Chief Minister Adam Giles is pleased to announce Andrew Hopper as the new General Manager of the NT Major Events Company.

“Andrew brings a wealth of experience to the organisation having an extensive record in leading the planning and delivery of major national and international projects and events. He will be a huge asset to the team,” Mr Giles said.

Andrew holds an MBA and has most recently held the position as Senior Consultant for MI Associates, which commenced business in early 2001 at the conclusion of the successful Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Prior to that Andrew worked for the Football Federation of Australia, the Australian Rugby Union and Rush Sports Events International.

“He takes up the post on March 9 and I’m sure his sporting events background will serve him well as we continue building our Territory calendar of top class sporting and lifestyle events,” Mr Giles said.

The current General Manager of NT Major Events Company, Paul Cattermole, is retiring from the position and will wrap up his position at the end of March.

“I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for all the hard work he has put in promoting the Territory and the fantastic events we host here,” Mr Giles said.

“Since starting in 1998, Paul has managed and overseen 17 V8 Supercars Championship events in Darwin. He is a great Territory Ambassador who has put our events on the national map.

“The hugely successful Borella Ride event that is currently underway along the Stuart Highway is a fitting end to his tenure at NT Major Events.

“Albert Borella is the Territory’s only Victoria Cross recipient and locals have turned out in their hundreds at events up and down the track to be part of this historic re-enactment."

Paul Cattermole’s service to the events industry is a matter of public record and was formally recognised when he was made a Member of the Order of Australia in January 2013.
