ALDI Australia named Supermarket of the Year 2016

ALDI Australia has been named Supermarket of the Year 2016 at the Roy Morgan Research Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Leading the supermarket category, ALDI was recognised for its outstanding level of customer satisfaction in Australia, as judged by over 50,000 consumers throughout the year.

This is the fourth time that ALDI has been awarded Supermarket of the Year by Roy Morgan Research since the awards were first established in 2011.

“It is a great honour to be awarded the title of Supermarket of the Year in the Roy Morgan Research Customer Satisfaction Awards 2016. This award continues to prove that ALDI is proudly different. Our consistently low prices do not have to equal low quality or poor service. In fact, we show that it can mean the opposite,” said an ALDI spokesperson.

“We also know that having the lowest prices in the market is what customers have come to expect from ALDI, and we will not betray this trust - you will consistently save money by doing your weekly shop at ALDI. That is why we have the most satisfied customers in Australia”, added an ALDI spokesperson.

However, it’s our job to ensure we continue to evolve to meet the needs of tomorrow’s shopper. As such, we have committed to refurbishing existing stores with the updated store format which has been trialled in 2016 on the eastern seaboard and in both South Australia (SA) and Western Australia (WA). The new store format features a number of new upgrades, including clearer signage, redesigned shelving and expanded wooden produce bays, energy efficient LED lighting and extended chillers. This will allow for a more pleasant and efficient shopping experience, while also catering for an expanded range across our fresh meat, produce and health categories.

We are committed to rolling out the new store format to all existing stores over the next four years. In addition, all new stores built will follow this updated format. By 2020, all ALDI shoppers will not only have access to brand quality products at unbeatably low prices, but they will also enjoy a wider range and more efficient shopping experience.

Along with these investments, ALDI increased its commitment to the fresh produce category, announcing it would move to a centralised purchasing model in 2017 that would provide better fruit and vegetables in store for customers. All of these developments have occurred while ALDI has continued to maintain its position as the market leader on price, delivering high-quality products at permanently low prices every day.

Since opening its first stores in Australia in 2001, ALDI has grown to operate more than 450 stores across the country. The supermarket currently employs approximately 10,000 people and each year partners with more than 1,000 suppliers, the majority who are Australian and have enjoyed growth and success as it has expanded.

The annual Customer Satisfaction Awards are based on 12 months of data from Roy Morgan’s Consumer Single Source survey, as well as Roy Morgan’s Business Single Source survey.
