RALEIGH, NC, September 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carl Bahn, Raleigh Cabinet and Flooring Branch Team Leader for Horizon Forest Products, has successfully raised "bail" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Annual Lock-Up fundraiser. The Raleigh event was held on August 22nd at The Capital City Club in Raleigh. Bahn raised over $3,800 and has been a regular participant in this event since 2007.

"I had a great time and appreciate all the contributions that helped me meet my goal," adds Bahn. "Being involved with MDA and being a part—if only a small part—of helping to find a cure for muscular dystrophy and Lou Gehrig's Disease is so gratifying. I hope that through MDA and the efforts of so many people, that one day these diseases will be a thing of the past."

For more than 60 years, MDA has provided help and hope for families living with neuromuscular disease. The organization is the world leader in sponsoring research seeking the causes of, and effective treatments for, neuromuscular diseases. Almost every treatment currently in development for neuromuscular diseases is based on research funded by MDA.

The MDA Lock-Up is a community event that is a unique and fun way to help local children and adults who live with muscle disease. Money raised through these national Lock-Up events helps MDA in its mission of curing muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related diseases by funding worldwide research, providing comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy, and education.

David Williams, Vice President of Horizon Forest Products, says that he's proud of Bahn's efforts and notes that his seven-year commitment to MDA comes as no surprise.

"If you know Carl, you know that he's an incredibly dedicated and selfless individual," says Williams. "His compassion and drive to making a positive difference in both his professional and personal life is what makes him a successful team leader and an invaluable member of our company. We're fortunate to have Carl as part of the Horizon Forest family and look forward to continuing to support him in his community efforts."
