PORTLAND, OR, September 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Oregon Scientific designed its kid-friendly tablet, known as the MEEP, to come pre-packaged with many fun and engaging games and educational programs; however, the company has also provided a way to expand this entertainment by developing its unique MEEP Store that features many exciting Android-based apps for young users. While the culture behind apps has existed for a few years, the availability of kid-friendly games and educational programs has recently grown, as research has revealed an increase in tablet use among younger individuals. With an inundation of so-called kid-safe and educational apps, a recent article from USA Today observes a few programs "that kids love, and parents can trust."

In a recent press statement, Oregon Scientific responds to the USA Today list, "We created the MEEP Store in order to provide parents with greater comfort that their children only have access to trustworthy apps that can be both educational and fun." However, according to USA Today, for the discerning parent, it may prove a little difficult to choose which apps are worth the money.

For those looking for a reliable kid-friendly app, USA Today recommends Storia. The article describes, "This reading app from Scholastic is a must-have. It's filled with an entire library of teacher-recommended books, plus dozens of fun and engaging games that help build comprehension and reading retention at every age and reading level. It's so much fun, children will have NO idea how good it is for them as they work on word puzzles, tap their way through image games and explore the world of their own imagination through great stories."

In its press statement, Oregon Scientific reviews, "Storia seems like an exceptional app, as it is not only free, but already comes with exciting books that children will no doubt love to read. Since the app is available through Google Play, our customers will easily be able to enjoy this product, as the MEEP Store is connected to this app-purchasing platform for greater convenience."

While the apps reviewed in the USA Today report are focused on boosting youth learning, Oregon Scientific notes that its kid-friendly tablet can provide additional education as young users browse for new programs. "With the use of our innovative virtual allowance program, in which parents can preload spending amounts, children who purchase apps from the MEEP Store will not only gain resourceful programs, but also learn the basic value of spending and shopping wisely," Oregon Scientific concludes in its press statement.
