NEW YORK (April 4, 2016) – Actress JEN PONTON is streaming big laughs for audiences this month appearing on two popular comedy series, acclaimed Netflix comedy, UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT, available April 15th and Hulu’s paranormal pot-centric comedy,DEADBEAT, beginning April 20th.
In Season Two of UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT, from creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock (both of 30 Rock fame), Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) is trying even harder to spread her infectious -- and sometimes misguided – optimism in New York City after escaping from a doomsday cult. During Episode 11, Ponton steps into Kimmy’s world as ‘Baby Debbie’ and no one will ever be the same.
Ponton was thrilled at the chance to work with Tina Fey again, after appearing on her mega-hit series 30 Rock in the Emmy-nominated episode “Reaganing,” opposite Kelsey Grammer, adding "Tina's comedy is my favorite thing to watch and a joy to be a part of. Her worlds are at once so absurd, silly and brilliant."
The third season of DEADBEAT finds the hapless but gifted medium for hire Kevin Pacalioglu (Tyler Labine), going to any lengths to help New York’s ghosts resolve their issues in order to find peace and move on. In Episode 8, Ponton appears as ‘Beatrix’ in a role that might shock but also empower people everywhere.
A Jersey native and comedic force, Ponton has built a solid reputation for delivering laughs in both film and television. Most notably, her credits include the critically acclaimed series 30 Rock, Orange is the New Black, Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order: SVU, The Slap, and The Good Wife. She has worked in several indie features that have graced Sundance, Tribeca and SXSW and memorably tickled audiences and broke hearts off-Broadway in Halley Feiffer's pitch-black play "How to Make Friends and Then Kill Them" (Rattlestick Playwrights Theater). Ponton is also co-creator and star of the web series The Weirdos Next Door, a hybrid of The Muppets and Full House. She is a proud Muppet enthusiast, horror fanatic, and body love activist.
Coming soon, fans can see her starring in Ash Christian’s (Petunia) new indie dark comedy Love on the Run, along with Steve Howey, Frances Fisher and Annaleigh Ashford.
