Starting with the refreshed exterior of the 2014 Scion tC, the team of designers started with the front fascia of the car. An expanded front air-intake paces the exterior changes for the 2014 tC redesign. The others elements include a more sculpted hood with more pronounced character lines. The wheels available on the new Scion tC also feature a more metropolitan look. They are certainly in line with contemporary design practices.

Mechanically, the new 2014 Scion tC also has been upgraded. The 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine turns out 179-horsepower and is now aided by a more advanced automatic transmission. The key change to the 2014 tC comes with the addition of rev-matching technology. Rev-matching allows for the engine to run at more consistent speeds while going through the progression of gear changes. This means that fuel-efficiency has been increased as has the performance of the engine. There is also a six-speed manual transmission that can be outfitted to the 2014 tC. Each gear-changer will result in the new tC recording an Environmental Protection Agency fuel-estimate of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway.
