MILTON KEYNES, England--(AirWatch®, the global leader and innovator in mobile security and the largest Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) provider, announces that Health and Social Care (HSC) in Northern Ireland has chosen AirWatch to manage its deployment of mobile devices across all six trusts and the Business Services Organisation in Northern Ireland.
)--“AirWatch is delighted to partner with Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland and to deliver a broad solution to mobile security that has the scale and flexibility that makes it suitable for all its trusts from a single console”
The countrywide implementation was the result of successful, initial roll-outs at the South Eastern HSC Trust and the Northern HSC Trust. Effective deployments in these trusts highlighted that all trusts could be managed at the board level from a single AirWatch console, delivering economies of scale and the efficiencies of shared and distributed administration.
"We aim to deliver cost savings through workforce efficiencies and AirWatch enables us to deploy mobile applications and data in a secure, controllable and cost-effective manner. A regional implementation of this kind helps to foster close working relationships with trusts and related regional bodies as we seek to implement new ways of improving health and social wellbeing provision throughout the HSC," said Des O'Loan, eHealth Strategy, Design & Programme Control Manager, HSC in Northern Ireland.
HSC’s mobile deployment was introduced following the Transforming Your Care (TYC) project commissioned by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (HSSPSNI). The project identified major principles for change which included:
- A requirement for improved technology and information sharing among parts of the health and social care system that needed to be better integrated as well as a mandatory requirement to work together, to improve the quality of experience for patients and clients, safety and outcomes.
- A requirement to maximise the use of technology so that vital information could be shared quickly among professional staff, to eliminate duplication and to ensure that the latest diagnostic and treatment tools were available.
The AirWatch solution for HSC in Northern Ireland builds on on-going wireless network infrastructure work aimed at providing a simplified mobile experience for healthcare professionals. This includes development in the areas of virtual desktop infrastructure and mobile application software development frameworks to enable more efficient care in the community and better bedside information for clinicians.
"AirWatch is delighted to partner with Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland and to deliver a broad solution to mobile security that has the scale and flexibility that makes it suitable for all its trusts from a single console," said Ian Evans, EMEA Managing Director, AirWatch.
HSC in Northern Ireland combines the following six trusts: Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Western Health and Social Care Trust, and the Business Services Organisation.
