Port HeadlandMonday, 23 September 2013. LandCorp calls for Expressions of Interest to develop 125ha site.  Potential to deliver landmark development offering diverse housing options

LandCorp is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from companies to build a new housing development in Port Hedland.

The 125ha Styles Road development site has been identified as a potential growth precinct by the Town of Port Hedland with the capacity to deliver a mix of single residential and medium density lots.

Located next to the Pretty Pool residential estate and just four minutes from the Port Hedland CBD, the site is ideally located to house a growing population seeking to experience the unique Pilbara lifestyle.

Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the site provided a rare opportunity for a landmark development in keeping with Port Hedland’s transformation into a vibrant regional city with a future population of 50,000.

“It would allow a developer with vision to make their mark on the region,” Mr Grylls said.

“Submissions can be made for all or part of the site and LandCorp will encourage innovative developers who want to build sustainable housing that works in the Pilbara’s climate.”

The Styles Road development will complement the many other projects under way in Port Hedland including the Athol Street, Cooke Point Project; the Spoilbank Marina Precinct; the old hospital site; and the award-winning Pretty Pool residential development.

EOI close 2pm (WST) on Thursday, October 31, 2013 with the preferred proponent expected to be announced before the end of the year.

Once the preferred proponent is selected they will enter into an Exclusive Working Period (EWP) with LandCorp to progress a development concept and financial feasibility for the land.

The decision to sell the land to the proponent will be made at the end of the EWP.

Fact File

EOI comprises lot 5557 (17.56ha) and lot 5558 (107.86ha)
