ROSEVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trusted Quote, a leading national life insurance brokerage, is proud to announce its participation in 2013’s Life Insurance Awareness Month.

“Even worse, among men and women with life insurance, women average 69% of the coverage that men have. In this day and age, families are still underestimating how much women contribute to their families. We want to help change that during this year’s Life Insurance Awareness Month.”

Since 1994, the non-profit LIFE Foundation has sponsored and promoted a month of life insurance awareness events in September. Each campaign features a celebrity spokesperson who explains how life insurance shaped his or her experiences growing up.

This year’s spokesperson is former NFL quarterback and MVP, Boomer Esiason. His mother died when he was only 7, leaving his family without the resources to hire help for Boomer, his father, and teenage sisters. The family scraped to get by.

The Esiason family isn’t alone. “Thirty percent of U.S. households have no life insurance at all,” says Ryan Pinney, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Trusted Quote. “Even worse, among men and women with life insurance, women average 69% of the coverage that men have. In this day and age, families are still underestimating how much women contribute to their families. We want to help change that during this year’s Life Insurance Awareness Month.”

This year’s theme is “Life Happens.” Trusted Quote joins more than 100 carriers and brokers in helping consumers see that life insurance is both necessary and affordable. Trusted Quote will release videos, blog posts, infographics, and social media posts to show who needs life insurance, why it’s important, and how low rates can be.

According to Pinney, consumers often overestimate the cost of life insurance. “Many of our clients don’t take into account the living benefits life insurance can offer,” Pinney explains. “For example, disability and long-term care riders can help make benefits available when you need them, not just after you’re gone. Once they see the value they get from living benefits plus a tax-free death benefit, they want that coverage.”
