VIENNA, Va., Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Navy Federal Credit Union announced its plan today to invite active duty members to enroll in direct deposit prior to 9 October to ensure coverage of their 15 October pay. New active duty members who join the credit union and enroll in direct deposit before 9 October will also be eligible to participate in the program.
"After spreading the word about our government shutdown contingency plan, we heard so many happy stories of relief, we knew we had to keep going," said Cutler Dawson Navy Federal president and CEO. "So now we're telling all our active duty members to make sure they're covered on 15 October-sign up for direct deposit, if you haven't already."
The credit union is open to the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, which includes active duty personnel and their families who will be affected in the event of a government shutdown.
