"This launch is significant for the cold chain network logistics and wider transportation industry, in bringing together military, government and Indiana business executives in one of the industry's only facilities that exceeds ADA handicap standards. Flagship Logistics Group is also raising the bar when it comes to technology in the transportation and logistics industry by going live with a single platform TMS (transportation management system) from 3GTMS," stated Paul Chapa, Managing Partner of Frozen and Refrigerated Buyer and founder of Food Industry Serving Heroes.
This marks a fresh start in 2014 for U.S. veterans coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan, and highlights how the transportation and logistics industry is keenly aware of and closing vulnerability gaps within supply chain networks within operations between and among companies.
"We are all systems go," noted CEO Bob Moran from Flagship Logistics Group's headquarters in Indianapolis. "We are proud of our efforts to redeploy military personnel into civilian jobs in logistics," said Moran. "The people we are interviewing and hiring are among the highest quality candidates we have interviewed since our inception. They have a natural proclivity for logistics related subject matter and have an indomitable manner of conduct. They do not quit until the mission is complete," added Moran.
Jim Morrison, Director of Veteran Opportunity in the Office of Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann, commented on the opening of the new Flagship Logistics Customer Care Center in Indianapolis, "We commend Flagship for the special care to create a facility that so completely accommodates employees with disabilities. Providing such a workplace further demonstrates Flagship's on-going commitment to both our veterans and the Wounded Warrior Project by allowing the company to hire veterans who have suffered life-changing injuries while serving our nation."
"Wounded Warrior Project stands ready to assist alumni seeking new career opportunities through our Warriors to Work™ program," said Jennifer Silva, executive vice president, Economic Empowerment, Wounded Warrior Project. "Our goal is not merely to support the program participant during the employment search, but to connect them with a career path that meaningfully suits their personality, abilities and skill sets. We welcome working with any freight forwarder, logistics service provider, shipper, carrier or technology company in the industry and look forward to working closely with the supportive team at Flagship Logistics Group to assist this generation of veterans."
The company is working closely with Wounded Warrior Project to recruit and place veterans ongoing. In total, Flagship Logistics Group has committed a minimum of $100,000 to Wounded Warrior Project Alumni and expects to continue to grow this contribution over time.
