NORTH CHESTERFIELD, Va., Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In a scheduled conference call today with key stakeholders, Richard French, CEO of Harnett Manufacturing, LLC announced the completion of the company's acquisition of certain assets of the now defunct Hawkeye Manufacturing. "Harnett has acquired certain intellectual property including proprietary designs, manufacturing processes and trademarks," said Mr. French. "Our agreement to acquire these assets does not include the acquisition of the company but is focused on intellectual property."

In a statement prepared for the press, Mr. French reiterated the company's strategic goals and outlined specific steps that management is taking to protect the employees and staff displaced in the closing of Hawkeye. "As a manufacturer, we are committed to building a company around our core values and delivering a world-class product. We believe in our people and the fortitude of the local workforce. We have made a commitment to the former employees at Hawkeye that we will do everything in our power to ensure they have a stable and predictable job in the future. To achieve this end we must reinvent and implement best practices developed by our management team over the years." He continued, "It is clear that changes need to be made. We must retool our factory, improve work-life and be vigilant in delivering a world-class product and experience for every customer."

Regarding the company's commitment to past customers of Hawkeye, Mr. French announced a comprehensive approach. "As part of our acquisition of these certain assets, we have committed to honor all existing warranties and we will do everything we can to ensure a smooth transition to prevent any negative impact on past employees or customers."

The company also announced plans to relocate its plant operations to a new facility but remain committed to the Richmond area and will remain located here.
