Company's Founding Partner and Vice-Chairman Honoured for Outstanding 50-Year Investment Career in North American Financial Services, Healthcare, and Mining Stock

TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW/ -Pembroke Vice-Chairman and Founding Partner Ian Soutar, CFA, was honoured with a Career Achievement Award by Morningstar at its 19th Annual Awards Gala at Toronto's Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Wednesday, November 27. The award is presented to an individual who has offered an outstanding lifetime contribution to the investment community.

A Pembroke Portfolio Manager based in Montreal, Mr. Soutar is a leading expert in financial services, healthcare, and mining stocks throughout Canada and the U.S. A graduate of Montreal's McGill University with a Bachelor of Mining Engineering, he started his investment career with Sun Life Assurance Company and served for three years as Manager of the All-Canadian Venture Fund before co-founding Pembroke in 1968, a year after he received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Throughout his investment career, Mr. Soutar has taken on leading roles in community affairs, including the Study School Board and Foundation, St. Andrew's Nursery School, the Brome Lake Land Foundation, and the Montreal Association for the Blind Foundation. A former Governor of McGill University, he is also Chair of two University committees and Vice-Chair of the Board of Montreal Medical International.
