PITTSBURGH, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UPMC Health Plan has entered into an agreement with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide health insurance coverage through Qualified Health Plans (QHP) on the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace.
As a result, UPMC Health Plan will immediately begin marketing its offerings on the Marketplace (also known as the Health Insurance Exchange). Individuals and employer groups may purchase insurance plans on the Marketplace beginning Oct. 1, 2013. The specifics about what individual health plans will be offering will not be available until Oct. 1.

Prior to Oct. 1, individuals and families can call UPMC Health Plan to learn about the Marketplace and other insurance information at 1-855-489-3494 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Persons may also get health insurance information as well as purchase plans at any UPMC Health Plan Connect Service and Sales Center. The service and sales centers are located at six area mall locations – Century III Mall, Monroeville Mall, The Mall at Robinson, Ross Park Mall, South Hills Village and Millcreek Mall in Erie.
