Roger CPA Review Hosts Free Webcast on 2014 California CPA Licensure Changes

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- From September 9th through September 20th, Roger CPA Review is hosting an open-viewing webcast discussing the 2014 changes to California licensure rules in regards to becoming a CPA. Additionally, the webcast will provide tips on how candidates can stay on top of these changes and be successful when taking the CPA Exam.

Starting in January of 2014, California will require CPA applicants to have a minimum of 150 semester units to become licensed. "There are a lot of people – college students and professionals already in their career – who will be impacted by this change," said Mitra Wilson, California Field Manager for Roger CPA Review. "We hope we can be a resource to those trying to understand how they will be affected."

Candidates seeking extra units may enroll in the Roger CPA Review Academic for Credit Program, in conjunction with California State University, to earn up to six nationally recognized AACSB units. This is an online program so California residency is not required.

The webcast will also cover the California Board of Accountancy legislation SB 824 which provides a break to those who pass the entire CPA Exam before 2014. The Board of Accountancy is hopeful it will pass before 2014.

"The benefit of this webcast is that it explains the old and new rules for licensure, and shows candidates how they can prepare for the CPA exam," said Wilson. "It may be especially helpful to professionals already working in public accounting as this information is not as readily available to them as it is in the universities."

Because the webcast is open-viewing, anyone may watch California 2014 Licensure webcast on their own schedule, until September 20th.

To support future CPA's further in their career aspirations, Roger CPA Review will be participating in the California Meet the Firms event. This week-long online event allows job-seekers and accounting firms across the state to connect via the internet.
