From a privileged childhood in the lush landscapes of Puerto Rico to the working-class sidewalks of New York City, the author recalls her family and her youth through years of war and peace, depression and bounty, and upheaval and stability.
She remembers how her character was shaped by the strong influences of women, including her mother, grandmothers and teachers who cared enough to demand hard work and dedication. And she explores how her multicultural upbringing shaped her views of the world.
"Two Countries…Two Loves" is an insightful and entertaining memoir from a Hispanic American who cherishes memories from both of the nations that she calls home.
