Global Celebrities Accept High Honors In China At Leading Awards Show Based On Fan Votes

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Dockery, Matthew Perry, Jeremy Irons, Avril Lavigne, Sam Worthington and Booboo Stewart traveled to China to accept key honors for their work at China's 10th Huading Image Awards, held last night at The Venetian Theater in Macau.  The Huading Awards are China's premier awards show where the honorees are determined by fan votes and recognize the best from various genres of entertainment, including film, television, dance, theater, and music. The event was highlighted by a live performance by Avril Lavigne, who performed her current hit single "Here Is To Never Growing Up" off her upcoming album, as well as her popular anthem "Girlfriend."

The award show expanded in 2009 to include fan opinion surveys from the U.S., Britain, France, Japan, and South Korea and attracted 80 million votes this year alone.  The show is produced by Peter Chan and Li Kwok Hoi of Hong Kong with Don Mischer Productions providing the consulting services of Don Mischer, Charlie Haykel, and Juliane Hare with Danette Herman as consultant in International talent and Bob Dickinson as consultant in lighting design.  The taped broadcast will air in Hong Kong on TVB on October 12, and will then air on 67 TV stations throughout mainland China October 12-25.  In total, the Huading Image Awards will reach over 800 million households.

Internationally renowned Oscar winning actress Nicole Kidman, the first Australian actress ever to win the Best Actress Oscar, received the Huading Award for Best Global Actress in Motion Pictures. Nicole Kidman is slated to star as the legendary Grace Kelly in the highly anticipated film Grace of Monaco, poised to attract worldwide audiences.

Since winning the Oscar for his powerful performance in Leaving Las Vegas, Nicolas Cage has thrilled audiences around the world with a wide range of films from Face/Off to his popular National Treasure blockbusters, slated to return to theaters with the third installment, eagerly awaited by millions of fans.  Nicolas Cage received the Huading Image Award forBest Global Actor in Motion Pictures.

Famed director Quentin Tarantino, known internationally for his iconic films Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds, was awarded the Best Global Director Motion Pictures Award for his imaginative direction and commitment to richly layered storytelling.  His films Kill Bill:  Volume 1 and 2 are considered his homage to Chinese cinema.  His latest box office hit, Django Unchained, earned profits of over $160 million worldwide.

EMMY nominated actress Michelle Dockery, who plays eldest daughter Lady Mary Crawley to Lord and Lady Grantham in PBS' immensely popular Downton Abbey, attended the show and accepted the award for Best Global Female Television Star.  The hit show picks up with Season 4 in the U.S. on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.

Sir Jeremy Irons accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments in film. The landmark performances of this Oscar winning actor, including in Reversal of Fortune, Man in the Iron Mask, Die Hard: With a Vengeance and Kingdom of Heaven, have earned him global acclaim throughout his 44 year career.

Star of history's highest grossing film Avatar which set box office records in China, Sam Worthington took home the Best Global Actor Motion Picture Award for his role as Jake Sully.  A sequel to the epic film is expected to be released in 2016.

Accepting the Huading Award for Best Global Television Actor was television veteran Matthew Perry.  Perry has starred in a number network series over the years including: NBC's Go On, ABC's Mr. Sunshine and all 10 seasons of the EMMY winning show, Friends.

Pop punk superstar Avril Lavigne, who has charted 5 top 10 Billboard hits, including the singles "Complicated" and "Girlfriend," accepted the award for Best Global Female Performer.  She performed "Girlfriend" and her current hit single "Here Is To Never Growing Up" off her latest self-titled fifth album set for release on November 1 in the U.S. and November 4 in China.

Booboo Stewart burst onto the radar screen of legions of fans around the world after winning the role of Seth Clearwater in the Twilight Saga Eclipse, and reprising the popular role in both Breaking Dawn 1 and 2. He was recognized with Best Emerging Global Talent at the Huading Awards.

Global Chinese superstar Jackie Chan, who has earned millions of fans in America and worldwide with his popular martial arts action movies, was front-and-center at the Huading Awards, taking a major role on stage, and presenting the award to Quentin Tarantino.

The Huading Awards were launched by Global Talent Media Group (GTMG ), a Beijing based multi-media company.  The organization is engaged in print, web and TV media content, consumer market research and public opinion surveys.  Founded in 2006, GTMG is a division of Hua Ding Tai Fu Investments Group, with interests in the media, real estate, and automotive industries.  Andy Hsu, based in Los Angeles, is the Chief Representative of GTMG for international talent and marketing.
