VISTA, Calif., Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EXPLORE AND CONQUER, just like the Vikings, the weekend of Sept. 28 and 29, 2013 at Norway Hall and the Surrounding Territory, 2006 E. Vista Way, Vista, only 30 minutes north of San Diego on Interstate 15. www.vikingfestivalvista.com
Come see Viking encampments, sword battles and at night, flaming axes! You can test your Viking skills by trying archery or throwing axes and spears at the Target Range. Discover your strength as you compete at the ever popular Viking Log Toss. Take part in contests like the Famous Fish Fling, Battle Cry or Horn Blowing Competitions!
Reward yourself for your victories with live music, dancing, and comedy on two stages. Enjoy folk music, Viking – Celtic style by Highland Way, Raggle Taggle, the Dreadcrew of Oddwood, Kjell Holmes and High Mountain Road. The entertainment continues with the engaging Scandia Dancers and for your laughing pleasure, the Bawdy Juggler. You can unwind as you feast on Nordic food and imbibe in ale or honey sweetened mead, some brewed exclusively for the festival, at one of our two beer gardens.
Our Kid's Zone offers painting of wooden shields and swords, jumping in the Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Rune Quest and more. Enter the nearby Norway Hall for Fresh Lefse, Swedish Meatball Meals, Norwegian Cookies, and Scandinavian Crafts. Discover if Viking blood runs through your veins at the Nordic Genealogy Table.
Trade in your ill-gotten coins at Vendors Alley to outfit all your raiding and domestic needs. Search the stalls for helmets, swords, drinking horns and mugs, Viking jewelry, Valkyrie attire and new this year, chain mail.
As you stroll through the shady Northern territory, you may discover pewter casting, yarn dying, weaving, and bread baking in clay ovens, all lending to the authenticity of the day.
