E-mail Print PDF

DALLAS, Nov. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- A pedestrian was recently hit by a DART Blue Line train downtown Dallas during rush hour traffic. According to a report by WFAA, the accident, which occurred at the Convention Center Station on October 21, left the man with a possible broken leg. Initial reports say the pedestrian could have been distracted while walking on the platform by being engaged in conversation with someone else.

Statistics show an increase in pedestrian fatalities in the US over the last few years. Initiatives have been put in place to help raise awareness of potential dangers many pedestrians face while commuting day to day.

The Dallas accident injury lawyers of 1800 CAR WRECK say that in circumstances such as this one, it is important that pedestrians pay attention to their surroundings to avoid injury. Crossing lights and bells are put in place to help alert pedestrians of when it is safe to cross at designated areas. There is a shared responsibility on the part of drivers and pedestrians when it comes to road safety; however, pedestrians must play a significant role in being aware of what they can do to protect themselves.

For pedestrians who have been injured in an accident due to the negligence or misconduct of others, there may be valid grounds for them to file a personal injury claim for compensation. One may be able to obtain compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages they have incurred. The Dallas injury lawyers are experienced in helping pedestrian accident victims obtain just compensation for these types of claims.

Victims of pedestrian accidents can contact the law firm of Eberstein & Witherite for more information about their legal options. Individuals can call 1800 CAR WRECK to arrange for a free consultation to discuss a specific pedestrian accident case.
