1st in Quebec for increase in research income - The Université de Sherbrooke ranks 11th among research universities in Canada

SHERBROOKE, QC, Oct. 23, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - According to Canada's Top 50 Research Universities List for 2013, published by the firm Research Infosource, the Université de Sherbrooke ranks 11th, up from the 16th place last year. Research grants and contracts rose more than 27.3% to total $182.5 million in research income, placing the university 1st in Quebec and 2nd in Canada for increase in research income.

"I am very proud of this illustration of our professors' performance. They are putting their passion and persistence to good use and expanding the frontiers of knowledge in our nine faculties," said President Luce Samoisette. "Already recognized as one of three major research hubs in Quebec, Sherbrooke is also a leader in academic research in Canada. Our ranking of 9th in Canada (and 3rd in Quebec) for publication impact is also an indication that the research being conducted at the Universié de Sherbrooke is increasingly leaving its mark around the world."

Jacques Beauvais. "We are reaping the benefits of our hard work under the strategic plan Réussir 2010-2015, which mobilized our resources to play a lead role in research, in particular by identifying topics that have a significant impact on society."
