HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today ordered all United States and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities across the state to fly at half-staff on Sunday, Oct. 6, in tribute to fallen firefighters.
President Barack Obama has ordered the American flag to be flown at half-staff on the first Sunday in October in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
The week of Oct. 6 through Oct. 12 has been proclaimed as National Fire Prevention Week, honoring the courageous first responders who put their lives at risk every day to protect others. It also serves as a reminder to everyone to take meaningful steps to reduce the risk of fire wherever possible.
The United States and Pennsylvania flags should be flown at full-staff on Monday.
All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
