WEYMOUTH, United Kingdom, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Ultra Electronics Card Systems, a global manufacturer of ID card printers and solutions, announces the latest addition to its Magicard line of secure identification card printers - the Ultra-LE laser engraver. Featuring a newly developed laser engine, the Ultra-LE is able to create high security, personalized cards on demand. The Ultra-LE weighs only 25 kg and is portable, allowing government and private organizations to deploy identity credentials quickly and securely across multiple sites directly to end users.

The Ultra-LE is Ultra's first laser engraver designed to integrate seamlessly with the Magicard Prima 4 ID card printer. A FIPS-201 certified instant issuance station, thousands of government and enterprise organizations trust the Prima 4 as a standard for ID personalization.
By integrating the Prima 4 with the Ultra-LE, high security cards are encoded, printed, and personalized in a one-step process. "This is a premium card personalization method that is impossible to replicate with any other technology," says Ultra Electronics Managing Director Andy Matko. "The average person who attempts to replicate cards from the Ultra-LE will find it too expensive and technically challenging, even if they tried."
The Ultra-LE has several laser techniques that organizations can use in order to give their cards different security features depending on their needs. Laser etching, embossed raised type, laser monochrome printing, and two-image lenticular printing can all be used to create highly personalized and secure credentials.
Combined with the Prima 4, the Ultra-LE is an easy to use desktop solution that creates personalized high-resolution photo ID cards with laser-etched features. Laser etching provides high marking quality by engraving directly into the card. As a result, cards are extremely durable and have an extended lifespan - photos and text last for much longer than normal printing methods that place ink onto the surface of the card.
The Ultra-LE allows organizations to increase efficiencies in their card issuance programs by saving time and money through issuing cards directly to the end-user. The Ultra-LE is one of the lightest and most portable desktop lasers in the industry. While the unit is robust enough for centralized card production - its small footprint allows organizations to decentralize card personalization and ensure security by issuing cards directly to the user, eliminating the risks from card handling and transportation.
The Ultra-LE is now globally available.
