New Board Members and Leadership Appointed to Provide Strategic Guidance to Organization

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Catholic Charities USA, among the largest networks of faith-based social service providers in the United States, is pleased to announce that four leaders from the fields of law, academia, and non-profit administration have been elected to serve on its Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is the governing body tasked with providing strategic leadership and guidance to the organization.

The incoming board members are:

• Gregory R. Kepferle, San Jose, California. Kepferle is the CEO of Catholic Charities Santa Clara County, where he has spearheaded bold approaches to ending poverty, such as Step Up Silicon Valley and the 1,000 Out of Poverty campaign.
• Dr. Isaiah "Ike" McKinnon, Detroit, Michigan. McKinnon is an associate professor at the University of Detroit Mercy, and is the former chief of police for the city of Detroit.
• Timothy F. Noelker, St. Louis, Missouri. Noelker is a partner in Thompson Coburn LLP's Business Litigation Department and a former trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice.
• Heather Reynolds, Fort Worth, Texas. As president and CEO of Catholic Charities Fort Worth, Reynolds has been on the forefront of socially-innovative programs such as WORN Scarves and TIN, receiving the papal Benemerenti Medal in 2010.

New officers of the board were announced as well. The new chair of the CCUSA Board of Trustees is Sister Linda Yankoski, CEO of Holy Family Institute in Pittsburgh. Other new officers include Marguerite (Peg) Harmon, CEO of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona, who will serve as vice chair and Charles (Chuck) Cornelio, of Lincoln Financial Group, who was elected to the position of board treasurer. Elida El-Gawly,  Director of Community Grants and Investments for Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston, Texas, will serve as the new board secretary. All were currently serving on the CCUSA Board when elected to their new roles.

Catholic Charities USA's Board of Trustees includes agency representatives elected by its Council of Diocesan Directors, independent members, participating observers and non-voting trustees, including an Episcopal Liaison from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
