Electric Vehicles: Creating the Infrastructure, a panel discussion scheduled Saturday, Sept. 28th at 11:30 a.m. will look at the effort to bring electric vehicles into the mainstream through incentives, infrastructure like charging stations, solar parking lots, and financing of charging stations. The EV panel includes Ira Yates, a Tesla owner and EV advocate and David Brymer, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Shey Sabripour, CEO of Altumaxis, SolarWing and SolarGrid Technologies, Cameron Freberg, Austin Energy Plug-in EVerywhere™ and Drew Johnston, Austin Energy: Central Texas Fuel Independence Project.

After years of promise, major corporations like Chevy, Ford and Toyota now are producing electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids available in most major markets in the US, while specialized companies like Tesla Motors are moving toward a more accessible fleet for the average customer. However, getting these cars into the market more widely will take financing, infrastructure and incentives.

"The Texas Hill Country tourism industry is uniquely situated to capitalize on the evolving Electric Vehicle market in the Austin, San Antonio and Dallas region. Installation of charging stations by businesses in the region can make this happen now", says Ira Yates, a Tesla vehicle owner.

Members of the Tesla Google Group will have their vehicles on display including the Tesla Motor Series S Sedan, Motor Trend's 2013 Car of the Year, Automobile Magazine 2013 Automobile of the Year, a much loved vehicle by owners and much anticipated by middle income Americans hopeful of a more moderately priced line to fit average incomes and the infrastructure to defray range anxiety. Fulfilling the hype a Wall Street Journal article titled, I Am Silent, Hear Me Roar gave an intriguing review saying, "This is one amazing car. I mean, hard-core amazing." Certainly America is ready for a hard-core amazing vehicle and for an innovative carmaker to bring driving American style back to the glory days ... and exhaust free!
