Leadership Team Presents Plans for Leidos at Investor Day Event
- Strategy focused on science and technology solutions, including data analytics and cyber-security
- Enduring support for national security missions, expansion in commercial health & engineering
(NEW YORK), Sept. 11, 2013 – /PRNewswire/ – SAIC, Inc. (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] today will hold an investor meeting in New York hosted by senior management of the future Leidos Holdings, Inc. (Leidos) a science and technology solutions leader working to help address challenges facing national security, health, and engineering.
SAIC previously announced plans to create two separate companies, each with its own growth strategies and competitive advantages. Upon completion of the planned spin-off transaction, the government technical services and enterprise IT business will retain the name SAIC and trade under the ticker symbol NYSE: SAIC, while the government and commercial solutions company will be named Leidos and trade under the ticker NYSE: LDOS.

Capabilities and Solutions
With over $6 billion in annualized revenues and approximately 23,000 employees, Leidos has a powerful platform for delivering the most advanced capabilities and expertise to government and commercial customers.

National Security: Leidos has a deep understanding of intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions and the most advanced capabilities for data analytics and cyber-security. A leading provider of scientific, engineering, systems integration, and technical services and products to all branches of the U.S. military, agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the intelligence community, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other U.S. Government civil agencies. This segment represents about 70% of the new company, with approximately 13,500 people.
Health: Leidos is one of the largest health systems integrators in North America, with about 6,000 health scientists, clinicians and health IT professionals on the team. Leidos experts implement and optimize the use of electronic health records, apply data analytics and behavioral health research to help enable customers to improve healthcare quality and patient outcomes, detect and prevent diseases, enhance scientific discovery, and reduce costs to the healthcare system. They provide groundbreaking research and support the National Cancer Institute’s world-class cancer and AIDS research facility, running clinical trials, operating drug manufacturing facilities and applying advanced technologies such as genomics, high-performance computing, and nanotechnology.
Engineering: The Leidos engineering business has about 3,000 experts uniquely combining the capabilities and perspectives of information technology, architecture, design, engineering and operations in crafting innovative solutions for energy, infrastructure and environmental management projects. This includes new concepts for ensuring electric power grid resilience and cybersecurity, oil and gas, and water management solutions for developing America’s natural resources and achieving energy independence, and virtual imaging technologies for designing the most efficient, green and functional buildings and infrastructure.
The health and engineering businesses are predominantly commercial and collectively comprise about 30% of Leidos – about $2B in revenue.
