WINNETKA, IL, September 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lake Shore Unitarian Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary by welcoming Illinois State Senator Daniel Biss and other local leaders and educators to the Winnetka Community House this fall. Highly regarded speakers will address various topics and share stories that inspire and impact our communities.

"Secular, interfaith, and other spiritually open-minded families benefit from weekly Sunday morning inspiration, just as more traditional churches offer," says Dani Petrie, current chair of the Lake Shore Unitarian board of directors. "Senator Biss is fighting for the right things to happen in our community, and can both inform and inspire us. We are excited about our entire lineup of fall speakers, who offer thought-provoking ideas and stories without prescribing any particular dogma."

Sen. Biss will speak on Sunday, September 22 at 10:30am at the Winnetka Community House, located at 620 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka, IL 60093. The public and local media are invited to attend.

Sen. Biss will talk about the state of current pension reform, one of the most prominent fiscal challenges facing our state today. As a proactive advocate for pension reform, Sen. Biss will share innovative ideas and approaches to solving this problem for the employees and taxpayers of Illinois.

For 50 years, Lake Shore Unitarian Society (LSUS) has brought families of various religious backgrounds together in a community of shared values: compassion, respect, and responsibility. Instead of having a minister, each week we invite a highly regarded speaker to share stories and insights that give us a deeper appreciation for the world we live in. Our Religious Education (RE) program provides children and teens the spiritual and cultural literacy they need in this increasingly interdependent world.
