This is their love story:Jo-ann and John met 19 years ago through fate. She was 21 years old and he was 19. They had many chance encounters where they would cross each other's paths by going to the same house gatherings/parties. They finally met each other after she started briefly dating his best friend. After a short relationship with her husband-to-be's ex-best friend, they ran into each other at a nightclub and danced the night away. They exchanged phone numbers and were good friends for some time, sharing their daily life experiences with each other. After dancing one night, he leaned over to kiss her and they have not been apart since.

Jo-ann was recently diagnosed with stage IV bilateral breast cancer which has metastasize to her lungs and possibly liver (after being misdiagnosed last year in April 2012). She is currently undergoing Neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Jo-ann foresees the future being challenging with her recent diagnosis not only for her best friend (her husband), but also for their two daughters (Ava 8 & Layla 12). John and Jo-ann never had a wedding since they chose to be married at the courthouse and purchased their first home instead spending money on a wedding. In Jo-ann's words, "It would be such a miracle if we could experience such a positive occasion during this very difficult time."

Wish Upon A Wedding and its special Wish Grantors will be helping to create this miracle by granting a wedding for this deserving couple free of charge on September 23 at Ranchos Las Lomas in Silverado, CA.

Wish Upon a Wedding is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness and serious life altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. The organization was created to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding wishes and for the chosen recipients to inspire other couples facing similar situations to find hope and strength. Wish Upon A Wedding was founded in 2010 and is based in Santa Clara, CA. The organization currently has 13 chapters around the country.
