According to the 2010 Census, Americans of German descent number approximately 50 million and are the number one ancestral group in the United States. In addition to genealogy research and writing, Krause acted as consultant on the upcoming documentary The Upside Down Book, about how a copy of Mein Kampf ended up in the hands of a World War II Jewish-American soldier. The film will premiere at the International Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale in October 2013.
