Hot water installation generally means a plumber and an electrician. Heat pump hot water installation is about as complex as any other unit but, like consumers, there are plumbers and sparkies who have failed to embrace the new tech. Some manufacturers also require certification from partner plumbers to protect the warranty on heat pumps (and other hot water systems). Consumers may be hard pressed to find a Rheem certified plumber who can install heat pumps in their area.
Education is key
Solar PV system installation attracted government benefits and education because it eased the burden on the existing power grid. It also made environmental sense to have householders contributing to their power needs. Heat pump hot water technology does the same. It qualifies for federal government STC credits, just as solar does. It just doesn’t have the same “publicist” solar systems have.
