Klean Kanteen Teams up with Ragnar Trail Series as the Official Sustainability Partner

CHICO, Calif. (March 30, 2016) – Klean Kanteen, the leader in reusable stainless steel food and beverage solutions, is partnering with the Ragnar Trail Series as the event’s official sustainability partner.

“Klean Kanteen and Ragnar truly align when it comes to the elimination of single-use containers. Ragnar is proud to host entirely “cupless” events and Klean is the ideal partner for encouraging participants and spectators to use their own containers,” says Shelayne Barrett, Partnership Activation Manager for Ragnar Trail Series.

With trail-running events across the country, Ragnar Trail puts a focus on waste reduction, trail conservation and community involvement. All Ragnar trail events are “cupless,” meaning every participant (runner, volunteer, friend, family, crew, etc.) needs to bring their own drinking container, which they can fill up at various Klean Kanteen hydration stations at each race.

“At Klean we appreciate the conscientious ethos of the Ragnar team and share their commitment to waste reduction,” says Melissa McClary, Assistant Marketing Manager for Klean Kanteen. “Our goal in partnering with Ragnar is to encourage and inspire community involvement by educating people about sustainable solutions and alternatives to plastic bottles and other single-use items.”

In 2015, Klean Kanteen partnered with over 80 events in the US to provide 50,000 gallons of free, filtered drinking water to more than 400,000 attendees. In doing so, Klean prevented 450,000 single-use cups from being trashed, 400,000 plastic bottles from entering the waste stream and inspired attendees to shift their habits from to-go cups and bottled water to reusable products that last a lifetime.

The partnership with Ragnar includes 19 events across the country and inclusion in all the gear-up events at the REI closest to each race location. There will also be Klean Kanteen free filtered water stations at each event for unlimited fill-ups and use. For more information on Klean, please visit: http://www.kleankanteen.com.
