Accelerated Cure Project to Host Shimmer Shine Shoeball at the Liberty Hotel in Boston

BOSTON, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis (ACP) will host its 8th Annual Shimmer & Shine Shoeball at the Liberty Hotel in Boston on Saturday, March 15 from 7-11 p.m. The event will feature a full evening of live music, complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres, dancing, silent and live auctions, and shoe-gazing, as well as a chance to compete for the Best-in-Shoe title in a runway "walk-off" presided over by a panel of fashion designers, editors, and industry experts.

Proceeds from the event will support ACP's efforts to find a cure for MS. Tickets cost $75 or two for $125 through Friday, February 28 and $100 after. They can be purchased online (http://www.acceleratedcure.org/news/shimmer-shine-shoe-ball) or at the door.

Performing at the Shoeball will be MS patient advocate and singer/songwriter Kristie Salerno Kent, whose album "Believe" was listed for several months on the pop/country music radio charts. She is also the director of "The Show Must Go On," an award-winning film about the emotional and physical impacts of MS, as well as the author of a new memoir, Dreams: My Journey with Multiple Sclerosis (www.dreamstheebook.com). The book uncovers Kristie's journey to fight MS and achieve her lifelong dreams of performing and becoming a mother.

Kennedy Elsey from the Mix 104.1 Karson & Kennedy show will be hosting the evening, and Genzyme and Questcor Pharmaceuticals are sponsors.
