Seattle and Spokane Host Conferences

SEATTLE, Oct. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Epilepsy Foundation Northwest announces two regional conferences in November celebrating National November Epilepsy Awareness Month. The conferences will be held in Seattle, WA and in Spokane, WA, and are free and open to the public.

The conference in Seattle will be on Saturday, November 2 at the William Foege Building at the University of Washington from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Keynote speaker, Dr. Howard Jeffries of the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital, will present on the topic of the Impact of the Affordable Health Care Act on People with Epilepsy.  He will be joined by other medical and education professionals presenting on a variety of topics relating to epilepsy including Surgical Approaches to Epilepsy, Anti-Seizure Medication, SUDEP-Mortality in Epilepsy and Individualized Education Plans for Children with Epilepsy. The Seattle conference will be available via web-cast.

The conference in Spokane will be held on Saturday, November 9 at the Health Education Center at the Providence Holy Family Hospital from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Dr. Timothy Powell and Dr. Marie Atkinson of the Providence Epilepsy Center in Spokane will present on topics including Treatments for Epilepsy, and Epilepsy and Nutrition. Other topics relating to epilepsy being presented in Spokane include Service Animals: Myths and Facts and the Vagal Nerve Stimulator.
