CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill., Oct. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- At Camfil -- the world's leading provider of clean air solutions -- energy efficiency isn't just a hallmark of the company's products. It's a hallmark of how those products get made in the first place. In August, Camfil unveiled a nearly $2 million upgrade of its manufacturing facility in Crystal Lake, Illinois. A cornerstone of the project: improving the energy efficiency of the facility, which has been producing Camfil air filters and clean air solutions for the past 45 years.

Energy efficiency has long been a priority at Camfil. Its innovative air filters leverage advanced engineering -- spurred by cutting-edge research at six Camfil R&D centers across the globe -- to provide better, longer-lasting performance than traditional air filter designs, while using less energy. Indeed, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, educational institutions, and others that have switched to Camfil's sustainable air solutions have been able to reduce their HVAC energy costs by up to 30 percent.

Other improvements in the $1.9 million enhancement to Camfil's Crystal Lake campus include safety and aesthetic improvements, as well as a paved-surface upgrade to improve access to the facility -- and thus improve logistics. The facility currently employs 65 full-time workers, and Camfil plans to grow this number in the future.

Camfil air filters have long been known as a win-win proposition for customers: lowering energy costs while boosting performance. With the improvements to the Crystal Lake facility, these products themselves can now be made with more efficient energy use -- adding yet another win to the equation.

The world leader in air filtration systems, Camfil provides clean air solutions for hospitals, hotels, office buildings, educational institutions, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies. We provide the tools to achieve sustainability, maintain high air quality, and reduce airborne infections -- all while lowering total cost of ownership.
