OTTAWA, Ontario, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Diablo Technologies, a proven innovator in memory system interface products, and technology partner SanDisk, a global leader in flash storage solutions, received the Storage Visions® 2014 Visionary Product Award in the Enabling Professional Storage Technology category for the ULLtraDIMM™.  SanDisk's ULLtraDIMM is the industry's first enterprise-grade, ultra-low latency (ULL) SSD and is powered by Diablo's Memory Channel Storage™ (MCS™) architecture.  The award was received at the 13th Annual Storage Visions Conference, a partner program to the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Storage Visions awards recognize companies advancing state of the art storage technologies used in enterprise applications, consumer electronics, the media/entertainment industries, and visionary products for the digital content value chain.  This year's conference received a record number of award submissions.  The ULLtraDIMM SSD was selected by a panel of industry experts and journalists for its innovative design and dramatic reduction in storage latency.

"With the introduction of the ULLtraDIMM SSD, Diablo and SanDisk are leading the way to new non-volatile memory computer architectures," said Tom Coughlin, organizer of the 2014 Storage Visions Conference.  "Products leveraging this innovative technology will benefit from extremely fast memory that can persist even when system power is turned off."

"The arrival of Memory Channel Storage marks the beginning of a new era in persistent memory technology," said Riccardo Badalone, CEO and Co-Founder of Diablo Technologies.  "Being recognized alongside SanDisk in the Visionary Products Category validates our joint vision for the MCS platform, as well as our position as a technology leader in one of the fastest growing markets in enterprise computing."

The ULLtraDIMM SSD leverages Diablo Technologies' Memory Channel Storage architecture to connect flash directly to the CPU through the memory bus.  The fusion of Diablo's MCS architecture with SanDisk's NAND flash subsystem and proprietary Guardian Technology™, introduces a new ultra-low latency (ULL) Flash-SSD tier for enterprise server and storage platforms.  This ULL SSD is an exclusive MCS enabled product that sets a new industry standard in performance for high-capacity, flash-based storage solutions. The ULLtraDIMM achieves deterministic latencies nearing that of DRAM and enables new levels of application performance for database, virtualization, big data analytics and other enterprise-grade workloads.

The Storage Visions Conference, the premier event focusing on digital storage and the entertainment content value chain, is hosted by the Entertainment Storage Alliance and Coughlin Associates.
