CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In Chicago it is often said the only thing better than the smell of legendary Carson's ribs being cooked for hours in a wood burning pit is actually sinking your teeth into the tender meat coated with their own signature BBQ sauce.

“The past 36 years brought a lot of growth and challenges for our restaurant and I’m proud of our progress”

When Carson’s opened their fist location in 1977, the restaurant purchased its first two Southern Pride Smokers and developed their famous recipe for ribs. Thirty six years later, the company has served over six million ribs, has three locations, including a new restaurant that opened in June in Milwaukee, runs an online retail operation, and still uses its original Southern Pride smoker at its Wells Street location.

“The past 36 years brought a lot of growth and challenges for our restaurant and I’m proud of our progress,” says Dean Carson, president and owner. “We are simply astonished at the ROI of our Southern Pride smokers. Not only is a Southern Pride smoker key to our characteristic flavor and quality, there are very few pieces of equipment in a commercial kitchen that can outlast a Southern Pride smoker.”

ABOUT SOUTHERN PRIDE

Southern Pride was founded in 1976 when Mike Robertson and his father, B.B., hand built and marketed their first rotisserie and smoker. Today, some 20,000 rotisseries and smokers later, Southern Pride laser cuts, bends and forms their own stainless steel and assembles every element of the cookers, still by hand in their 117,000 square foot manufacturing headquarters in Alamo, TN.
