Since 2004, the Association of Producers, Packers and Exporters of Avocado from Michoacán (APEAM) in the south-west of Mexico, has increased annual avocado exports to more than half a million tonnes of fruit in the US, which has generated an accumulated economic impact of more than five billion dollars for the sector, and has also generated more than 300,000 direct and indirect jobs through the production chain from Mexico to the neighboring country.
