CHARLOTTE, NC, September 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Zasheed McNeal, a Charlotte high school student, suffers from a blood disorder known as Sickle Cell Disease. Zasheed is currently being treated at Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital in Charlotte and is receiving regular blood transfusions. He is an avid sports fan, especially of baseball and the New York Yankees, but is unable to play organized sports due to his condition.

His younger sibling, Zebulon McNeal, lives with Cerebral Palsy and manages his daily difficulties with the assistance of his loving mother. Zebulon has had hip replacement on both hips, two seizures and is unable use his limbs or communicate like his brothers. However, these challenges do not stop him from shining his light and spreading his joy to others. Zebulon loves to be outside and especially enjoys watching his brothers wrestle. His mother, Tonique McNeal, shared that "he speaks with his eyes." She knows when he is happy, hungry, sad or just wants attention. "He is a blessing and reminds us of what is so important to this family - the gifts of patience and love," says his mother.

On September 7, 2013, local athletes joined together for the 3rd Annual CrossFit Charity Event in south Charlotte. Athletes teamed up and performed a grueling workout while also raising money for a good cause. All money generated from this event was donated directly to Dream On 3 for the McNeal Family's Dream Experience. Last year's event raised over $1,600 with the help of 23 company sponsorships and over 70 participants. This year, the event raised over $4,600 with over 40 company sponsorships and 115 participants!

Thanks to the support of the CrossFit Charity Event, Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital, The New York Yankees Organization, Marriott Courtyard - LaGuardia, Elegant Transportation Services, and overwhelming support from the community, these deserving children will get the chance to live out their sports dream on September 24th. They will be treated to a VIP tour of Yankee Stadium, an on-field experience during batting practice, a visit to the dugout with the players, and many other surprises!

Dream On 3 works with three local children's hospitals in an effort to make sports dreams come true for children with chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and life-altering conditions.
