NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Aegis Energy Services, Inc, has installed a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system at the famed Carlton Hotel in the midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. The installation calls for a 75kW CHP module, which will be producing both space heating and hot water loads for the hotel, in addition to on-site generated electricity.

The Carlton Hotel is located on 88 Madison Avenue in New York. Originally built in 1904 as The Seville, the hotel is a centerpiece of the city's NoMad (north of Madison Park) neighborhood.

The Aegis Energy Services, Inc PowerVerter installation is designed to dramatically reduce the building's energy costs and reduce previous boiler use, thereby prolonging the life of the boilers. It is conservatively estimated the Carlton Hotel will save $55,000 on energy costs in their first year of the PowerVerter's operation.

In addition, PowerVerter is "black-start" capable, which allows the building to continue to operate in the event of a grid power failure. In the wake of the recent super storms, buildings like the Carlton are opting for these systems in order to both enjoy daily energy savings and protect their priority operating loads during a grid failure.

Aegis Combined Heat and Power systems deliver two forms of energy, heat and electricity, from a single fuel source (natural gas). The high-efficiency CHP systems significantly reduce energy costs and harmful emissions, as recognized by the EPA.

Founded in 1985, Aegis Energy Services is a full service Combined Heat and Power provider that utilizes modular systems to reduce both energy costs and emissions for a variety of facilities, from healthcare and assisted living facilities, to recreational and multi-residential complexes, and hotels. There are also institutional, educational, and industrial facility applications. Combined Heat and Power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, is an efficient, clean, and reliable technology, which simultaneously generates electricity and thermal energy from a single fuel source.

Aegis Energy Services is the leader in modular CHP systems, having installed nearly 500 systems in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.  For more information on Aegis Energy Services and to learn about Combined Heat and Power, visit www.aegisenergyservices.com
