To start with brand new lights have been erected to provide a better night driving experience at the facility adjacent to the Dubai Autodrome and situated in the heart of Motorcity.

Kartdrome manager Ryan Trutch explained, "We have found the time and funds to invest in a new Musco lighting system which apart from creating far better all-round illumination, they have also done so in a energy saving manner ticking all the 'green' boxes in the process. Drivers will notice the difference as the light is now crisp and clear, with a far bigger area illuminated by the new system."

"We have also upgraded most other facilities and now have a Pro Shop selling merchandise and racing gear. Stickers, caps t-shirts and a variety of cool clothing with Kartdrome branding will be available on sale. And the plan is roll out different lines a couple of times a year. All in all our Arrive & Drive experience has been ramped up several of notches," added Trutch.

"We are expecting one of our busiest years not only with the Arrive & Drive, but also with the racing we are hosting at the venue. The Kartdrome Endurance Championship continues to grow from strength to strength with full grids for all the rounds emphasising the popularity of what is our flagship event. We are very proud of the partnerships we have developed with the likes of Mini (AGMC), TAG Heuer, Liqui Moly, Red Bull, Sodi and OMP Racewear."

"We also have two great back to back weekends where the UAE Rotax Max championship visits the Kartdrome. We will again host have rounds of the SWS Sprint challenge with the winners progressing to the World Finals, with plans also for an Indoor series. We are going to be very busy," predicted Trutch.

Assisting Ryan Trutch with the formidable task of running the Kartdrome (outdoor and indoor venues) is David Bright who has been instrumental in sprucing up the venue. He is a big racing fan which is evident by the tweaks he has introduced to the Kartdrome, and how he engages with the fast growing karting community.

Bright is confident that the local karting scene is in good shape and the Kartdrome contributing positively to the local scene.

"Over the summer, there has been new race teams formed and international karting manufacturers showing interest in the UAE series.  If summer testing is anything to go by recently, then there is going to be some very exciting races! The whole Rotax scene is going up a level in terms of professionalism and presentation, which is fantastic to see. I think we are close to having a UAE driver on the top of the podium at the World Finals. I believe our paddock on race day will be heaving with new faces and huge enthusiasm. It will be a spectacle!" declared Bright.

"Since starting here at the Kartdrome, it was always our aim to develop and improve karting here in this region. With the new racing formats we have introduced, it seems to be working. The Ramadan challenge was a record breaker with 34 karts on the grid for the last race just proves how successful the series is," concluded Bright.
