IT Systems: 5 Tips To Improve Worker Productivity

Laptops, PC’s and other devices are incredibly important to us in the workplace. Let’s be honest: we probably couldn’t do without them anymore. But, they also aren’t the simplest of things to work with. Ensuring that productivity remains high isn’t always easy when it comes to multiple users and multiple devices. It only takes a few problems or distractions to cause some fuss. Read on for some of our productivity-improving tips!

Eliminate Distractions

One of the biggest problems with using IT systems for our everyday lives is that they contain all sorts of productivity killers. We all know how difficult it is to resist the temptation of things like Facebook when we’re doing work. In fact, the internet is full of all sorts of distractions that could cause a loss of productivity. The best way to eliminate this is to hire a company or buy software that can monitor this sort of thing. You could even block websites entirely if you wanted to.

Well-Managed Systems

It doesn’t take much for a device to falter. A missing patch could result in problems when trying to open important pieces of software. Implementing the wrong anti-virus package could allow damaging viruses to get through the cracks. To rectify this, you ideally need someone who can make sure all the systems are working as intended. Alternatively, it can be outsourced to companies like Austin Technology. Whatever you choose; make sure you’re keeping a close eye on things.

Train Your Staff

You need to train your staff on a multitude of things when it comes to proper IT use. Firstly, you need to ensure they know how to resist viruses and other damaging attacks to their systems. Then, you need to train them on how to use the internet properly without causing distractions or dangers. You can’t expect your staff to know everything if you don’t train them first! Some of them might not even know how to use a laptop in the first place!

Implement Better Software

If you want to get more out of your staff when it comes to productivity, you might need to fork out some cash on better software. Take a look at the current software you’re using to complete tasks such as accountancy and sales. Is it up to scratch? Is it outdated now? Take careful considerations when choosing whether to upgrade to the latest and greatest model. Remember; you’ll have to train everyone on how to use the new software as well.

Hire A Dedicated Support Assistant

Depending on the size of your business, you may or may not want to hire a dedicated IT support assistant. Alternatively, you could just hire someone to do the bare minimum for you. This could include tasks like fixing small laptop-based issues when necessary. Then, the bigger fixes relating to things like servers can be outsourced to the experts. This way, you can ensure productivity remains high when it comes to small fixes like installing printers or patches. Don’t expect miracles out of them if you’re going to do this, though!
