Axfood Närlivs plans relocation of operations from Tyringe

Axfoods Närlivs’ (STO:AXFO) board of directors has made a strategic decision to begin negotiations surrounding a relocation of the company’s operations from Tyringe.

“The strategic decision is based on our ambition to adapt our operations to our customers’ future needs and to create the potential for future, internal synergies,” comments Nicholas Pettersson, Divisional Manager at Axfood Närlivs.

The operational change would entail the following:

* Tyringe’s warehouse operations, i.e., the Perishables and Cold Storage functions, would be moved to Gothenburg and Jordbro

* Relocation of a few picking and packing positions to Gothenburg

* Coordination of store support in Örebro

A total of approximately 30 positions will be affected. Transport operations will remain in Tyringe.

Union negotiations will begin shortly.

Axfood AB conducts food retail and wholesale business in Sweden. Retail business is conducted through the wholly owned store chains Willys, Hemköp and PrisXtra, comprising 249 stores in all. In addition, Axfood collaborates with a number of proprietor-run stores that are tied to Axfood through agreements. These include stores within the Hemköp and Willys chains as well as stores run under the Handlar’n and Tempo profiles. In all, Axfood collaborates with approximately 820 proprietor-run stores. Wholesaling is conducted through Dagab and Axfood Närlivs. Axfood is listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm AB's Large Cap list. Axel Johnson AB is the principal owner, with 50,1% of the shares.
