Patients across Europe to get improved access to pain medicines

Governments in 12 European countries are to implement the recommendations of research into why more patients are not receiving essential painkillers. The five-year project called Access to Opioid Medication in Europe (ATOME), funded by the European Union, looked at why opioid medicines – like morphine and codeine- are not widely available in countries from Poland to Turkey. http://www.atome-project.eu/
