Two RUB researchers are overjoyed about the generous “Starting Grants” awarded by the European Research Council – ERC: with his 1.5 million Euro ERC Starting Grant, Prof Dr Stefan M. Huber, Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry, plans to pioneer the deployment of so-called halogen bonds between catalysts and substrates for the manufacture of pharmaceutically effective molecules. Prof Dr Thorsten Holz from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology has likewise received 1.5 million Euros for the purpose of developing novel security mechanisms for the “Internet of Things”.
