TAIWAN - Media OutReach - 22 January 2015 - According to the latest annual Global Salary Survey from global specialist professional recruitment consultancy Robert Walters, recruitment level in Taiwan is expected to be buoyant in 2015. Demand will largely be driven by growth in a number of sectors, most notably technology, FMCG and luxury retail.
Figures from the survey suggest that professionals moving jobs could command an average 10-20% salary increase in 2014 as a result of increased hiring activity, while non-movers received increases of 2-5%. These trends are likely to continue in 2015.

"We expect hiring levels will go up in 2015 and professionals with strong technical capabilities, English language skills and industry experience will continue to be in high demand, especially among multinationals. Competitive salary packages and opportunities for career progression are vital to attracting the best candidates. We have also seen more overseas Taiwanese returnees for the promising business prospect back home, and this will help enlarge the local talent pool."
Other Key Highlights for 2015
- Accounting and finance professionals with strong technical ability, good commercial acumen and communication skills will be in high demand, as organisations look for individuals who can play a business partnering role by working with internal stakeholders
- Banks and financial institutions will continue to seek professionals in internal audit, legal, risk and control as the regulatory environment is expected to evolve further
- Experienced software developers and engineers will be in demand as mobile devices continue to develop. Research and development specialists will also find plenty of opportunities as international companies continue to invest in R&D centres in Taiwan
- Sales and marketing professionals with strong English language skills and digital marketing experience will be key hiring priorities, especially for companies in the consumer, FMCG and luxury retail sectors, as the number of visitors from mainland China looks set to grow with restrictions being further alleviated
